Artist's Comments

This is probably the crowning achievement of my Summer. After finally procuring all of the needed materials, and having a sufficient time at home bring bored, I started construction on my mask. I began along the same lines as the wolf puppet- lots of tape around lots of newspaper- all on a plastic mask that was cut to shreds. I just kept building it up, and long story shhort, didn't have real paper mache so used celluclay. I sanded that down, added straps in the back, and then a mane out of funky fur. The best part was the paint job- I spent a lot of time on that, tring to get the stylized effect I wanted by using slowly shaded shapes instead of trying to paint fur. It's actually really detailed and a very cool color IRL, but damn digital cameras. The cheek-fur is actually flush with the mask- but I gave the illusion of shadiy areas and folds with the paint. You can see that in the preliminary sketch. I'm really proud- I compare this and the puppet- and there really is no comparison. Props to Goldenwolf for construction tips and whatnot. Hoorah!
BTW, I may be enlisting my friend to take pics of me wearint it and the boots, along with my tail and whomping stick. Maby an updated version of the other photo series- and evolution if you will. Or I may just put it all on and go to the mall. Anyway, much love.

Wow, that's a nice mask there. Can really tell you put a lot of detail and work into it.

Nice. I'm making a spirit mask as well...or, well I will be once I get my lazy ass in gear.

P.S. this is what the alphabet would look like without Q and R.

DUDE! Loving the inside of your ears. They are so cute. I'm going to make some spirit masks of my own once the money starts coming. ^_^ Beautiful colors and I love your shine.

Ah, this is excellent. I am planning on making a spirit mask, as well-- actually, an entire suit... but it will be hard, and most likely take MUCH tape and shalac... -=Groan=-

It's hard to be an insect sometime... :bug:

Sorry about the double post. I will add something important in this comment, so it isn't spam... The facial structure of the mask is absolutely gorgeous, as is the color you used. -=Kicks the double post and then scuttles away=-

hee, don't worry about it! I appreciate all the comments! yeah, the color irl is more of a navy- it's very bright in the pics. Thanks for commenting on the facial structure- I tried to get it as close to life as possible, but the main problem is that people forheads are a lot steeper than wolf foreheads. And good luck on your costume! I would love to see a big Wig walking around- that would be great!

This is definetly a mask apon masks.

The reason this looks so great is how much detail you put into the structure of the wolf's skull, and then when you put it on your body - My god. It looks like it could actually be you.

Awesome stuff. :+fav: all te way!
